Judge Bitar<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

A number of representatives in the US Congress called on the Lebanese government to preserve the safety of the judges, who are investigating the horrific explosion that rocked the port of Beirut on the fourth of August last year (2020), leaving more than 210 people dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A statement issued by the Congressional Foreign Relations Committee expressed concern about “Hezbollah’s role in pushing for the decision to suspend this sensitive investigation.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement also praised the integrity of the judicial investigator looking into the Beirut Port Explosion file, Judge Tariq Bitar, considering that he is a respected judge, who served his country for more than a decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the signatories to the statement considered that the Lebanese government should ensure the safety of judges and investigators, in order to complete their duties and end the investigation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
